So, with the typesetting in progress and the cover design completed I'm now looking ahead to book launch opportunities, and have identified a few regional locations here in the UK, plus a couple in New Zealand where I hope to launch the book in November.
What makes a good book launch though? I've only ever been to a couple, and have never held one of my own, so I don't have a lot to go on. But I'm thinking at the very least that those who come along to a launch deserve a 'treat' in some way, firstly as a 'thank-you' for coming, and secondly to entice them to buy the book!
So, there will be wine, maybe nibbles, and I will - as is traditional - do a couple of readings from the book. There will be laughter (I hope!), and I'll answer any questions. I will of course sign any books purchased on the day. I had thought of presenting all those who attend with a little phial of Canal du Midi water, but I think that might be taking things a bit too far, especially as boats on the French waterways are allowed to have straight flow-through toilets. Eew!
